Iron chills are used for the controlled solidification of castings. They reduce the hardness of their surface and stabilize their mechanical properties. Our iron chills do not absorb moisture from the air into their capillaries; their material is not altered by thermal cycling, nor by temperature load during founding. They also have half the weight of standard iron chills. They are superior to both cast iron and graphite iron chills, because they are longer-lived and have a lower total cost of ownership.
